Bookworms unite! You’re invited to the 2025 chapter of our Booktroverts Series, a social book club that connects fellow readers. We’ve joined forces with Read Me Again book club to spice up your reading adventures. Each month, we’ll explore a different title and gather for exciting conversations with our book buddies at theCOMMONS Thonglor.

THE MONTHLY SELECTIONS:

🔹 January’s book was

Matt Haig’s international bestseller, Midnight Library

. This fantasy novel introduced us to Nora, who visits a library where she can experience the lives that she might have lived.

🔹 February’s book, White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky, was a vibe. Relationship Status: Complicated. This passionate tour de force had us wandering Saint Petersburg with our hearts on our sleeves.

🔹 March’s book was Oscar Wilde’s classic, The Picture of Dorian Gray. The self-loving hedonist in this 19th century gothic horror novel challenged us to look at love from different angles.

🔹 April’s book, Yellowface by R.F Kuang, is a witty satire on racial diversity. When failed writer June Hayward witnesses her rival Athena Liu die in a freak accident, she sees her opportunity… and takes it.

🔹 May’s book, Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, is a page-turning, big-hearted story about race and privilege set around a young Black babysitter and her well-intentioned employer.

🔹 June’s book, The Vegetarian by Han Kang, won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature. It takes us to Seoul where Yeong-hye’s decision to stop eating meat leads to devastating consequences.

🔹 July’s book, Almond by Sohn Won-pyung, shares the sentiment, “This story is about a monster meeting another monster. One of the monsters is me.” This poignant story honors the power of love.

🔹 August’s book, Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, was hailed as BBC's '100 Novels That Shaped our World.' In 1950s Paris, David has an affair with a man while waiting for his fiancée’s return from Spain.

🔹 September’s book, Animal Farm by George Orwell, is a clever take on the idea, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Find out what happens when animals rule a farm.

🔹 October’s book, The Mountain is You: Transforming Self-Sabotage Into Self-Mastery by Brianna Wiest, dives deep into emotional intelligence and how we can break free from damaging habits.

🔹 November’s book, The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, introduces us to a dystopian future of enslaved women. Despite the totalitarian regime, we’ll learn that repression cannot obliterate desire.

🔹 December’s book, This Summer Will be Different by Carley Fotune, is a sexy romance that swears: This summer they’ll keep their promise. They won’t give into temptation. This summer will be different.

Let’s share what we love at theCOMMONS! Since we believe that hobbies are important to a wholesome lifestyle, we created theWHOLESOME Hobbies Club to connect everyone through shared interests. This series is a fun way to try new things, expand your skills, build community, and bond with like-minded people in a supportive setting.
